The community independents movement is gearing up for its biggest election effort to date. More than 35 campaigns have undertaken rigorous community consultation processes to find candidates who are serious about climate action, integrity in politics, and gender equality. They have a real chance at taking seats from major party incumbents.
We’re partnering with Fairground, a philanthropic fund that supports innovators in climate justice and democracy. Between now and election day, Fairground will be matching $1 million worth of grassroots donations to Climate 200 – that’s $2 million going directly to community independent campaigns.
“We’re committed to effective systems change that leads to a kinder, fairer world – this is the heart and soul of the community independents movement.”
Deb Barlow (CEO, Fairground)
The Prime Minister has confirmed he intends to serve a full term, which means independent campaigns are now facing an extended election campaign. The major parties have the resources to run marathons and so to remain competitive, it’s crucial that community independents can make the most of their greatest assets, too.
Tens of thousands of ordinary Australians have stepped up to volunteer for their local community independent campaign, and every single one of those volunteers is a walking advertisement for a better kind of politics that can’t be bought.
Fairground’s matching challenge will, in the first instance, go towards equipping every single one of those volunteers with the shirts, hats, yard signs and flyers that ensure they can get the message out in their communities.
Every contribution to level the playing field just became twice as powerful. Make a donation today and Fairground will double it.
The power of the independents movement comes from people like you – and it grows stronger with every person who joins us. Do you know anyone else who might want to support independents? Share this campaign using the buttons below, and ask them to chip in and join the fight!
Climate 200 only accepts donations from Australian citizens, permanent residents and Australian companies. Climate 200 is required to disclose the name and address of any person or entity that makes donations above the $16,900 disclosure threshold in the financial year ending 30 June 2025.
We are very excited to support Climate 200 and strongly agree with their goals for action on climate, integrity, and diversity. After meeting the team at Climate 200, we know that they will make sure that every dollar donated is well-targeted and will make a real difference in getting more independent voices into Parliament.
We are proud to support Climate 200 in its mission to support local communities and their independent candidates fighting for action on climate change, equality and integrity. We need our political representation to respond to the concerns of its citizens. We know we are better together and hope you join us in this push for a safe climate and fairer future for all.
We’re frustrated and embarrassed with the lack of meaningful action at the federal level in Australia to address the Climate Emergency. We strongly feel there is a need for more people in the federal government that have the integrity and the independence to act in the interests of future generations. Please join us in supporting the work being done by Climate 200 at this pivotal point.
