Donald Trump's re-election is already emboldening the most extremist elements within Peter Dutton’s Coalition.
In the aftermath of the result Nationals Senator Matt Canavan has declared “net zero is dead” and that Trump’s victory means “we can all say what we think again.”
Dutton has already threatened to abandon the Paris Agreement, and Coalition extremists are pushing to undermine Australia’s commitment to reproductive rights.
Political commentators are in agreement that there’s a high chance of minority government at the next election.
Every pro-climate community independent who sits on the crossbench after the next election is another line of defence against Dutton’s climate policy.
Right now, there are more than a dozen community independents in urgent need of resources to scale up their campaigns.

The US election shows that we can’t afford to be complacent.
Right now, so many people who care deeply about climate action and reproductive rights will be reeling from the result in the US. It is heart-breaking, but we cannot be shocked into inaction.

Climate 200 only accepts donations from Australian citizens, permanent residents and Australian companies. Climate 200 is required to disclose the name and address of any person or entity that makes donations above the $16,900 disclosure threshold in the financial year ending 30 June 2025.
