The major parties are colluding to reshape elections in Australia. They’re rushing a new bill through parliament that would boost public funding for major party campaigns and lock out competitors with imbalanced spending caps.
Australia’s electoral system is in urgent need of reform, but this bill is just a brazen attempt to return to a duopoly after 1 in 3 Australians voted against the major parties in the last election.
If passed, the new laws won’t come into effect until 2026. That means this election could be the last chance you have to help us level the playing field for independent candidates.

Under the Electoral Act, Climate 200 may only accept donations from Australian citizens, permanent residents and Australian companies. Climate 200 is required to disclose the name and address of any person or entity that makes donations above the $16,900 disclosure threshold in the financial year ending 30 June 2025.
